- Feeding, watering, herding, castrating, branding, weighing, catching, and loading animals
- Examining animals to detect diseases and injuries
- Assisting in birthing, administering medications, vaccinations, or insecticides
- Maintaining winter animal housing areas
- using diggers, shovels and other equipment needed
- Ongoing maintenance includes cleaning, maintaining and repair of equipment, various workshop tasks as well as maintenance of fences.
- Repair fences, dig post holes, install and remove electrical fences.
- Rake and bale hay
- Use of various farm and cattle specific farming equipment
- Drive farm trucks, tractors, and other farming equipment to distribute food to cattle
- Receive and place stocker cattle and cows on wheat and corn stalks for grazing
- Pull cattle off stalks and other grazed crops
- Gather cattle and move cattle with 4-wheelers and stock trailers
